“I am a visual storyteller, continually moved and inspired by the magic of nature and the human spirit.
Although deeply rooted in the real world, my paintings are visual narratives that push bound- aries and open windows. They merge realism with fantastical, mythological, and magical or dream-like themes or subjects, playing with
the mind and the heart. Exaggerated lighting and shadow add theatrical drama and an other- worldly essence. The female figure is at the center of it all, rendered with careful precision, yet emanating a subtle attitude that tickles the edges of reality. My greatest satisfaction comes when a viewer engages with the work, and shares their interpretation of the piece and how it makes them feel.
“While my work is ethereal in concept, it is rep- resentational in execution, so I invest a good deal of time before I begin a painting in plan- ning, research, gathering information and visual references, and/or taking my own photos. I am continually exploring new concepts, but botani- cals, nature, fabric, birds, and horses continue to be recurring elements in my work.”
“My medium is primarily acrylic on canvas or panel, but in recent years, I have explored mixed media with charcoal and found objects, as well as digital collages, which incorporate elements of my own paintings.”
