“My early use of the camera was to gather data for perspective drawings that merged multiple viewpoints, mimicking my
experience. As one stands or walks through space we feel the ground underneath, the sky above and the activity from side to side, as well as the frontal view ahead. While driving we have a good amount of time for pleasurable viewing. The massive steel frame is like a travel- ing 3-D movie theater. My mind completes what I cannot see. In the 1970s I started photographing from the inside of my car to use for drawings. Then, my source materials became finished collages.”
