Under the umbrella of an
invented alphabet,
Moldenhauer explores sentence structures, syntax, linguistics, and more to create a world that co-exists with a modern reality while remaining fictional. Her process of communication re-scripts language in code via visual translation to detail conversations, thoughts, and writings. These meticulous paintings and drawings evolve from research, manifesting map making, text, and philosophy as abstractions that are as elusive and whimsical as language.
Moldenhauer graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art in May 2019 with a BFA in Painting, Art History, and Curatorial Practices. She is the Founder and Curator of The Aerogramme Center for Arts and Culture —an online arts collective and quarterly digital publication. She currently resides in New York where she is obtaining a masters from the Cen- ter for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, with a concentration in Museum Studies at New York University.
