Smith uses his creative vision while heading the foreign-language editions of National Geographic Magazine. His position with Nation- al Geographic takes him on journeys around the world. Landscapes, architecture, people, natural phenomena and city life—photographed during his travels—are transformed within his composi- tions. His largest and most conceptual body of work, Cross & Ladder, was exhibited in a solo show at Honfleur Gallery in Washington, DC. His work has been featured in solo and group shows in Paris, New York, Washington, DC, Virginia, and Maryland. His artwork is in private collec- tions on both sides of the Atlantic. Smith lives and works in Washington, DC.
