DARNING TO MEND A HOLE
YOU WILL NEED:
Strong thread
Plastic darning needle
Scissors
Felt
ACTIVITY
1. Thread a darning needle with roughly 20cm of thread. Use a small needle for small holes and a large needle for large holes.
2. Use a running stitch by poking your needle from the felt and back down. Use the running stitch around the 1.3cm outside of the hole making a square.
3. Stitch back and forth using large stitches to cover the width of the hole. Remember to keep the stitches close together. Do not pull on the thread.
4. After you have covered the hole, start stitching in the opposite direction. Go under one thread, on top of the next (this is called weaving) and repeat this process until you get to the end of your square.
5. Then weave back in the opposite direction.
6. Secure the thread by tying a knot through the last stitch
