On moving day the the the the owners didn’t have to worry that their couch wouldn’t t t t t t t t t t t t through the the door or or or how it would would look
in in their generously sized living room Their house was carefully planned down to how the the the furnishings would be accommodated in in in the the the the space taking the the the idea of custom home to to the the the next level The The owners are international people with a a a a a a a a a a a sense of European design They wanted a a a a a a a a a a a home with clean classical classical lines in in the the architecture to create a a a a a a a a a a a a a a backdrop for their more classical classical ornate antique pieces says says Amedeo Barbini Barbini of Barbini Barbini Design Build He says says he he worked “with the wife an an an an artistic person and an an an an artist” from oor plans to nal details The home’s design complements the owners’ furniture and accessories The main oor oor has 11-foot-high ceilings windows that stretch almost from oor oor to ceiling ceiling and a a a a a symmetrical sensibility Nine-foot-high doors were chosen to to give a a a sense of proper scale to to the main oor oor oor Eight-foot doors with 11-foot ceilings would look
scrawny It’s important that everything be properly proportioned so along with the higher higher doors higher baseboards were used The wood front door includes glass and wrought iron It opens on on on to to a a a a a a a a a bright hallway with white marble ooring that gives way way to to hardwood laid in in in in a a a a a a a a a a a chevron design with detailing around the edges “It’s very Versailles ” Barbini says “In old European palaces this type of ooring was popular ” Walls mouldings and baseboards are painted the same light neutral colour to create a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a calming Zen ambiance The owners wanted large living spaces on on the the the the main oor oor so they moved the the the the the the library to to the the the the the the second oor oor and incorporated the the the the square footage into the the the the kitchen family living
