Teens in Quarantine
Q uarantine with teens ... where to even start!??! To have a clear picture of what it was like living with my teens in quarantine, I have to give you a glimpse of our
pre-COVID, pre-quarantine life.
I have 2 teen daughters, and before COVID, our lives were full of activity. My 15-year- old was a freshman in high school playing on a national volleyball team which required travel around the country. My 13-year-old was an 8th grader playing on a regional soccer team which seemed to be on a quest to see every small town in Georgia. They had homework, tests, and practices. They both had very active social lives. Add in two full-time working parents, and it was crazy busy!
It all come to an abrupt halt on March 11, 2020. The school sent an email saying that they were taking a 2-week “break” due to COVID. I sent my girls a text saying, “School’s out for summer!” At the time, I had no idea how true those words would be. I had no idea they would not see the inside of their school buildings for almost a year.
From that point on, everything stopped. No volleyball. No soccer. No rushing around in the morning to get to school on time. No going out to dinner. No physically going
