Introduction
Living in a Pandemic: A Collection of Stories on Coping, Resilience & Hope is a compilation of our members’ stories about living through COVID-19. Just as we remember when Reagan was shot, when the Challenger exploded and when two planes flew into the Twin Towers, we remember when COVID-19 quickly spread and our lives changed, virtually overnight. The pandemic has affected us differently, but it has affected us all. This book addresses most of life’s major events (and some minor ones), and chronicles the personal stories of how our members addressed them. The book is meant to record these life events as experienced through the prism of a pandemic and how we not only managed and survived, but overcame and thrived.
It was our pleasure and privilege to share our stories and read the stories of our members. We learned how strong, how resilient, how powerful and how much grit and perseverance our members have. We hope you enjoy the book as much as we did editing it, and we encourage you to share your pandemic stories, listen to others’ stories and pass on your wisdom and knowledge from your pandemic experiences to others.
