FDCC Meetings - Looking Ahead
(L-R) Mitch Hall, Lee Hall, Marc Harwell, Holly Harwell, Alycen Moss and Kevin Moss
oldest neighborhood, where Fado
music echoes through narrow
cobbled lanes and Roman ruins
whisper stories of empires past,
ands strolls up the Avenida da
Liberdade, a luxury shopper’s
paradise, to the trendy Baixa and
Principal Real. Absolutely do not
miss the Jerónimos Monastery, a
UNESCO World Heritage site that
stands as a monument to Portugal’s
golden Age of Exploration, and
behold the iconic Belem Tower,
which once guarded adventurers as
they set sail into the unknown. Or
choose the breathtaking views from
São Jorge Castle, a hilltop Moorish
castle and royal residence dating
back to the 11th century, with
panoramic views of the city.
No trip to Lisbon is complete
without tasting the legendary
Pastéis de Belém—served warm
and creamy at the original bakery
near the Monastery. You can
find them on the corner of every
cobblestone street, but they are best
served warm, sitting down with
coffee or tea at the original site, next
to the Monastery. Second best?
Definitely the ones that we made
ourselves at Cooking Lisbon, which
we are offering as an afternoon
activity.
For a uniquely Portuguese cultural
experience, we
are offering an
opportunity to visit
the National Azulejo
Museum. This
beautiful museum
(set in a former
convent) showcases
Portugal’s famous
painted tiles – and
you will paint your
own Azulejo ceramic
tile in a workshop
and take it home as a
souvenir. We painted
tiles while we were there for our
site visit, and they came out really
well! This is definitely a four-star
attraction – and one of our best
Lisbon memories.
Our full day optional excursions
will include full day trips to Sintra,
a storybook town with palaces,
gardens, and UNESCO-listed charm
and Cascais, a coastal gem known
for its beaches, boutiques, and
relaxed ambiance.
The Most Affordable European
Trip You Can Take
Lisbon stands out as one of
the most affordable European
destinations you can visit without
sacrificing quality or experience.
With room rates at the luxurious
Hotel Corinthia starting at just $250
per night, we will enjoy upscale
accommodations, exceptional
service, and fine dining at a fraction
of what similar experiences would
cost elsewhere in Europe. Dining in
Lisbon is equally budget-friendly,
with countless local restaurants
offering delicious, authentic
meals at modest prices. Public
transportation is reliable, safe,
and inexpensive, and available
across the street from the Hotel
- making it easy to explore the
city without the added cost of
private transport. Even our off-site
activities are shaping up to be far
more affordable than their U.S.
counterparts.
Our Lisbon adventure promises to
deliver tremendous value!
