The Perth Lynx started the 2022/23 WNBL season slowly, with a tough loss to 2021/22 Grand Final opponents Melbourne Boomers starting a 2-5 run. But the team didn't let this rough patch define their season, and they bounced back strongly by winning their next seven games. During this period, the Lynx showed their resilience and tenacity, playing tough defence and executing well on the offensive end.
Overall, the Lynx finished the 2022/23 season with a record of 13 wins and 5 losses, which was good for fourth place in the WNBL ladder and enough to secure a place in the WNBL Finals series. While the team did not achieve their ultimate goal of winning the championship, falling agonisingly short to eventual champions Townsville Fire, they showed grit and determination throughout the season, which bodes well for their future prospects.
Top Players: The Perth Lynx had several standout players during the 2022/23 WNBL season. Sami Whitcomb was the team's leading scorer, averaging 18.3 points per game. Lauren Scherf was a dominant force in the paint, pulling down 9.6 rebounds per game. These players were crucial to the Lynx's success and will be important pieces for the team moving forward.
The Perth Lynx's coaching staff played a pivotal role in the team's success during the 2022/23 season. Ryan Petrik the head coach, implemented
a game plan that emphasized the team's strengths and minimized their weaknesses. Brad Robbins and Natalie Burton the assistant coaches, were instrumental in scouting opponents and devising game plans to exploit their weaknesses. The rest of the coaching and support staff also played their part, helping to keep the players motivated and focused throughout the season.
The Perth Lynx had a rollercoaster ride of a season during the 2022/23 WNBL campaign. While there were certainly some disappointments along the way, the team showed resilience and determination, which will serve them well in the future. With a strong core of players and a coaching staff that knows how to get the best out of them, the Lynx are poised to beaforceintheWNBLforyearstocome.
