THE 2022 WABL SEASON WAS ANOTHER FANTASTIC SEASON AND SAW FURTHER RESURGENCE IN THE SPORT.
However the year started with much disruption following the WA border opening for the first time in 2 years.
The introduction of COVID-19 into the community led to WABL Grading being heavily affected, with mass player unavailability and skewed results ultimately leading to the cancellation of the fourth weekend and divisions being manually graded.
The presence of COVID-19 lingered throughout the season, but we managed to get through all 18 weeks unscathed. WABL Finals saw the introduction of overflow venues for Weeks 1 and 2, helping alleviate the stress of 35 Divisions all at Bendat Basketball Centre.
We thank our Association’s WABL Administrators for their dedication to producing a successful season. We recognise the importance of the players, coaches, managers, referees, scoretable officials and shot clock operators, as well as extending our thanks to the parents and spectators.
“The presence of COVID-19 lingered throughout the season, but we managed to get through all 18 weeks unscathed.”
