    2022 BASKETBALL WA COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
Cory Tombides Competitions Officer
ALL FIVE WEEKENDS GO AHEAD IN 2022
The 2022 Basketball WA Country Championships saw 336 teams nominate across 37 associations. This was only 2 teams less than our record 2021. Unfortunately, a number of teams had to withdraw due to COVID which left us with a total of 312 teams competing.
We were thrilled to have all five weekends go ahead in 2022, especially astwoweekswerecancelledin2021 due to COVID. Week five was played without spectators but all players were still in great spirits, and it was fantastic that all age groups got the opportunity to play.
Following the introduction of streaming services in 2021, BWA continued to utilise this technology and streamed all Court 1 games live on the BWA Facebook page. We will look to continue this in the future as a way to engage with the wider WA basketball community.
We are looking forward to 2023 and are extremely hopeful that we can return to the high nomination numbers received in 2021 and 2022 without the threat of COVID present.
