Sports
Kathleen Egan is a junior at Newfound Regional High School. She’s a 3-season athlete who participates in field hockey, spirit, and track and field. She also participates in many non-athletic extracurriculars. She’s part of the math team, National Honors Society, teen council, and so much more. Kat is very involved with her local community and even works with the younger kids at the TTCC’s summer camp program. Regard- ing furthering her education, Kat

is still exploring her post-gradu- ation options. She is interested in either a major in education or pre-law.
During the winter season, you can find Kat spending lots of time in the NRHS gymna- sium, participating in spirit. She joined the NRHS spirit team in 2022 during her sophomore year with only one year of experience prior. During that year, Kat im- proved significantly in all aspects of the sport. Even though that season was not as successful as
Kat during spirit for two years, it’s been incredible to watch her grow not only as an athlete but as a person, too.
Amongst all these outstanding qualities that Kat possesses, one of her top qualities is her ability to lead. This year, during spirit, we chose not to have captains. This didn’t stop Kat from step- ping up and being that leader without needing the title of a captain, though. Kat does an ex- cellent job of keeping her team on track, leading group activities such as stretching, and never fails to hype up her team when they need it most. Her favorite thing to do is call someone a “queen” when they walk into the gym; it never fails to get a smile out of them. Just like any sport, there will be easy and hard practices, but Kat's perseverance and posi- tive attitude always get the team through. Kat is a joy to have on the team and an excellent exam- ple of what a teammate should be. I can confidently say that I’m excited to see what the future holds for Kathleen.
