A Summer of Fun is About to Get Underway

NEWFOUND – The Sum- mer of 2022 kicks off in the Newfound Region with many great events and entertainment that people of all ages will enjoy. Headlining it all this month are several programs at Mi- not-Sleeper Library in Bristol.
On June 4, the Pasquaney Garden Club will host their Annual Plant Sale from 8 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Butterfly Garden, which is located just behind the library on Pleasant Street. Featured will be annual and perennial plants that will im- prove the look of any garden and landscape, whether residential or business.
Presented in conjunction with Minot-Sleeper Library and the N.H. Humanities Council at 3 p.m. on June 9, the public is invited to hear author Ma- rina Kirsch’s presentation about her book, “A Flight of Remem- brance: A World War II Memoir of Love and Survival” at Historic Bristol Town Hall on Summer St.
On June 10, Newfound Lake Association will host a Volunteer Cookout from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at Grey Rocks Conservation Area in Hebron. To register, please go online to www.newfoundlake.org.
June 15 marks the start of the “Paint Your Own Shark Art Gal- lery,” a summer-long project that will continue through August 18. Contact Minot Sleeper Library for details on this fun program for people of all ages. The Shark Gallery also helps bring attention to this year’s “Oceans of Possibil- ity” summer reading program at MSL, including prizes for people of all ages who sign up to meet the reading challenge. The offi- cial kick-off for that program will take place at the library on June 17 from 12-2 p.m, but it’s never too late to sign up!
At 6 p.m. on June 25, the first 2022 Hebron Gazebo Concert and Barbecue will get underway on the Town Common with great food and music by Studio Two, an acclaimed Beatles Tribute Band. A schedule of other up-

ities will be Tapply-Thompson Community Center’s 13th An- nual “Tee It Up Fore the Kids” golf classic, beginning on June 25th at 1 p.m. at Den Brae Golf Course in nearby Sanbornton. This event’s registration and de- tails can be obtained at 603-744- 2713 or online at www.ttccrec. org.
Minot Sleeper Library will also be hosting “Earth Day Every Day” Learning and Craft Time on June 28, when participants will learn about pollinators and be able to create Bee Houses. Again, pre-registration is re- quested, and the program gets underway at 6:30 p.m.
The summer months also wel- come people back to the Bristol Farmers and Craft Market along the riverfront at Mill Stream Park on Lake St., where shoppers will find everything from local arts and fine crafts to fresh eggs, veg- etables, and fruits in season. The market is open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. from May until October.
Looking ahead to July so peo- ple can begin to prepare for the local holiday celebrations, the annual Newfound Lake Boat Pa- rade will take place on July 2 (rain date July 3). All who would like to participate in this fun event are asked to bring their decorated boat entries to the foot of the lake (Avery-Crouse Beach area) by 1 p.m. as crowds assemble on the shore to watch them all cruise by.
Prizes for the best entries will be awarded.
That same evening, and from the same location, fireworks will fill the sky over Newfound Lake at dusk. The rain date for this popular event is also set for the following evening.
Finally, July 4th celebrations will begin early that day with the Annual Firecracker 5K Road Race. Registration opens at 8 a.m. at the Newfound Memorial Middle School parking lot off N. Main St. for an 8:30 a.m. start time. Registration and more in- formation are available at www. ttccrec.org or www.bristolnh.gov.
At 10 a.m. that morning, par- ticipants in the annual Fourth of July Parade will then take to the streets, traveling from Freuden- berg NOK on Pleasant St. (Rte. 104), along Pleasant St. in down- town Bristol, then up N. Main St. to the back entrance of the middle school. Registration and further info for this event are also available at both www.ttc- crec.org and www.bristolnh.gov. (Did you know that in the 1970s, Vice-President George H.W. Bush once marched in the Bristol parade?)
With such a jammed-packed schedule of events in the area, be sure to check back next month for the most current information, including a schedule for the free Bristol Summer Concert Series, which begins on July 7 at 6:30 p.m. in Kelley Park with the Morgan-Nelson Band.
