BRISTOL - Runners and walkers of all ages are invited to celebrate Independence Day weekend with a community fa- vorite: the 12th Annual New- found Firecracker 5K. The event, hosted by the Newfound Cross Country Program, will take place Saturday, July 6, at Kelley Park in Bristol.
The Firecracker 5K has grown into a well-loved tradition in the Newfound region, offering a fun and active way to bring people together over the holiday weekend. Whether participants are serious runners, casual walk- ers, or families looking to enjoy

The race begins at 8:30 a.m. near the far end of Kelley Park by Newfound Memorial Middle School. Race day check-in and registration will open at 7:30 a.m. Participants are encouraged to arrive early to allow time for
HEBRON - The Friends of the Hebron Library are hosting a beer tasting on the picturesque Hebron Common on Thursday, July 10 from 6 to 9 pm. Three local breweries will feature their crafted brews: The Last Chair of Plymouth, Shackett’s Brewery of Bristol, and Sole Track Brewers of Rumney. All are welcome, but you must be 21 or older to sam- ple the beer. Non-alcohol bever- ages will be available. Space is limited to 200.
The Beer for Books event will kick off at 6 pm with an “inter- esting vehicle” parade around
parking, bib pickup, and a brief warm-up. Volunteers will be available to help with registration and answer any questions. The course is clearly marked, and all registrants will also be entered into a race day raffle for a chance to win fun prizes.
While the event is untimed, medals will be awarded to the top male and female finishers in four age groups: under 13, 13–17, 18–39, and 40 and over. Winners will be announced shortly after
the Hebron Common. Food will be provided by the Hebron Fire Department and The Last Chair pizza truck. There is a $20 ad- mission fee to sample the brews, and $10 for a pizza or burger with the fixings. Popcorn is free courtesy of Bill White.
The Hebron Library is in the midst of an exciting renovation project to improve programming and increase services to the com- munity. The former Grange Hall and Memorial Chapel are both listed on the National and State Register of Historic Places. The project unites the two structures,
the race concludes, giving par- ticipants a chance to cheer each other on and celebrate strong performances. Though the focus is on fun and community, the age group awards add a little friendly competition to the day.
The Firecracker 5K has be- come a summer tradition for the Newfound region, blending fitness and fun in support of a great cause. Each year, partici- pants of all ages come together to run, walk, or cheer from the sidelines. The event promotes healthy activity while raising funds that benefit local programs and services.
