Bristol and Alexandria Officers Receive Chief’s Award
By Donna RhoDes
ALEXANDRIA – Alexan- dria Police Chief David Suckling brought three area law enforce- ment officers together at the Al- exandria Select Board meeting last month to present them each with a Chief of Police Commen- dation for their reaction to what could have been a tragic situation earlier this year.
At the meeting, the chief was proud to present the certificates to Officers Michael Grier and Seth Learned of the Bristol Po- lice Department and Alexandria Police Officer Joshua Reynolds.
“Huge congratulations are in order for Officer Reynolds, Offi- cer Grier and Officer Learned,” the chief wrote in his press re- lease. “On May 17th these of- ficers went to a residence in Alexandria to serve a protection order when the resident decided to try and take his own life. Quick
thinking saved the resident and gave a positive outcome for all.”
He added that their skilled and quick response that day ex- emplifies the highest values held dear to all law enforcement offi- cers.
Chief Suckling later stated that he is grateful for the assis- tance from local law enforcement departments such as Bristol and said that cooperation between local law enforcement agencies has never been better.
The families of the three of- ficers were on hand for the spe- cial recognition as well and the chief was grateful to have them all present that night.
“In addition to the officers, I would really like to thank the families who also give up so much of their family time together for the sake of the community,” he said.
