GratitudeAttitude,cont d ’
PURPOSE
To formally express gratitude to other staff and/or elders.
DESCRIPTION Participants thank others in verbal or written form.
PARTICIPANTS Team
TIME 20 minutes
SUPPLIES
Thank you cards (bought or made) and pens for version 2.
VERSION 2
• Purchase some inexpensive thank you cards or make one on the computer and make copies, a few for each participant.
• Ask the group: Have you ever noticed the author’s thank-yous and acknowledgements at the back of a book? It must be nice for those people to see the gratitude in writing.
• Ask participants to take a few minutes to think about who and for what they are grateful for in terms of their experiences in the neighborhood or household, throughout a project or transition, or for just making days a little easier and more pleasant. Encourage them
to include elders with whom they’ve shared special moments.
• Give each participant a few thank-you cards and have them take some time to write thank- yous to the people they thought of. Have them deliver the notes in the next day or so.
• You may want to keep a stack of thank-you cards where everyone has access and encourage folks to write notes when the gratitude attitude strikes them in the future.
