Two – Make connections between languages.
Once we have shared the languages spoken in the classroom and their role in the everyday linguistic practices of our students, we can start allowing them to use their languages by comparing them with the target language in explicit activities or allowing them to use other languages to reinforce the meaning of target language vocabulary and expressions.
