The Languages and Multicultural Education Resource Centre (LMERC) is a Department of Education and Training library specialising in:
• Languages
• English as an Additional Language
• Cross-curriculum priority areas and the intercultural capability
The library holds an extensive collection of more than 30,000 diverse resources in all formats for educators across all sectors and at all levels, from early childhood to adult.
Resources include: games, puppets, big books, flashcards, ideas for activities, culturally diverse picture books and novels, and Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) lesson plans.
Items can be borrowed for 12 weeks.
Membership is free to teachers across all school sectors, pre- service teachers and lecturers (EAL and languages), homework clubs and community language schools.

Important LMERC notice:
The Languages and Multicultural Education Resource Centre (LMERC) library will be closed for in-person visits until further notice. Some LMERC services will continue to be available. Please contact LMERC for more information at: lmerc.library@edumail.vic.gov.au

What LMERC are currently still offering:

advice on accessing free multilingual and EAL resources online
research assistance – finding online resources on topics across the curriculum, especially in the cross-curriculum priority areas and intercultural capability guidance on searching the catalogue for digital or physical resources and requesting items
postage of resources to government schools outside of the metro area packaging of resources for pick up by couriers. LMERC will provide dimensions and weight so that a quote can be sourced by the borrower
