 Languages Victoria
NESA Languages Inspector Melissa Gould Drakeley on Stage 6 Assessment which was very well-received. We plan on holding more webinars in 2020 so please let us know what topics you would find helpful.
Each year we offer a range of benefits and opportunities for you, our members. The applicants have closed for the Denise Soos student scholarships and we are pleased to note an increase in students applying. The scholarships were created to encourage and support Year 10 students who want to study a language in Stage 6 to put the funds towards resources that will assist their study. The recipients will be announced before the end of the school year. Many of you know about our short film competition Linguafest. This year again saw many high quality entries which have now been judged by an expert panel. The screening took place in November at Events Cinemas in George Street. You can read more about the films in this issue. Details about 2019 Denise Soos scholarship recipients and winners of Linguafest 2019 will be in the next issue of Accents
I want to thank our dedicated and endlessly supportive committee and executive team for their work this year. We will be celebrating in February with our Vice President Sana Zreika and Secretary Janelle Byrne who have been awarded the 2019 Professional Teachers’ Council (PTC) NSW Outstanding Professional Service Awards. Congratulations to both of them for their fine service to the MLTANSW!
We all wish our wonderful members a restful summer break, ready to come back in 2020 with a renewed passion for languages education in NSW!
Please save the date for our 2020 MLTANSW Conference 16-17 July! _________________________________________________________________
