We all know that teaching children at at an an early age about the the importance of good good oral hygiene
is essential in in in in in in promoting healthy teeth teeth throughout their lives Children who practice good good dental habits such such as as brushing twice a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a day flossing between teeth teeth daily and and limiting sugary beverages and and and snacks will have a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a lesser chance of of developing problems such such as as as plaque gum disease and and cavities later in in in life Educating young children about the the importance of of of good oral hygiene
is is is an an an essential part part of of the the the curriculum at at at at at Children’s Children’s Friend Friend Through our partnership with Samuels Sinclair Children’s Children’s Friend Friend ensures that that children receive the the critical dental care that that is is so important for our overall good health One way Children’s Friend typically promotes good oral health is the continuation of our Dental Dental Sealant Project Children Children in in Head Start and Pre-K classrooms are screened for for sealants sealants Dental Dental sealants sealants applied by a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a licensed dentist form a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a protective barrier that helps to prevent bacteria from developing which causes cavities Our Dental Team comprised of of our health health manager and health health project coordinators continues to to promote awareness regarding the benefits of of dental sealants The Health and and Nursing Manager at at at Children’s Friend Lindsey Brannon
RN BSN and and her nursing team continually focus their efforts to to ensure that the the number of children who have access to to a a a a a a a licensed dentist increases each year Our partnership with Samuels Sinclair continues to to raise awareness of how critical it it it is is is to to have dental dental care provided by a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a licensed dentist in in in in in a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a comprehensive accessible coordinated and family-centered manner A successful positive upward trend within our dental dental dental program over the past three years indicates that more families families now make dental dental dental arrangements with with with a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a private dentist We also see a a a a a a a a a a a a a a low percentage of families families with no no dental dental home Key Accomplishments And Continued Progress
The 2020-2021 school year proved quite a a a a a a a challenge throughout the the pandemic Children’s Friend worked diligently to to to ensure children were able to to to be be seen at at their dentist offices and and continued to to to to provide education on on on on on oral health Although the the the the the numbers reflect the the the the the difficulties our families families faced the the the the the work was still done to to to ensure we we could help families families see see the the the the the dentist As mentioned previously due to to the the the pandemic no children were seen on-site by Samuels Sinclair 53 children received a a a a a a cleaning and fluoride treatment from a a a a a a dental hygienist
264 Head Start children have a a a a a a a a a a dental dental home home with 73 using using Samuels Sinclair and 191
using another dental home From The Good News File: For the 2021-2022 school year we we plan to to welcome Samuel’s Sinclair Dental Center back to to to to our buildings! With all all dental and and and nursing staff staff being fully vaccinated and and and and following all all all recommended protocols to to to to keep children and and and and staff staff as as safe as as possible we have booked our our fall schedule and and and look forward to to to providing dental care inside our our buildings once again
