1. Storytelling ABC What is a story? A story is a journey. Stories teach and explain things, create emotion, and entertain us. A story can be a short story, a novel, a real life story, a poem, a theatre play, or even a film. We are all storytellers. While you read a story, think and ask yourself.... -WHAT is happening in the story? -WHAT can I learn about the characters? -WHAT is the problem? -HOW do the pictures in the book help me to understand the story? -WHAT message is the author trying to give? 3
