Meeting sharpens the focus on translating infertility knowledge into clinical practice

The 6th International Virtual Scientific Conference of the Fertility and Sterility Society of Bangladesh (FSSB) was held on 10 and 11 December 2021.
The conference attracted 2,200 registrants participating in twelve compelling sessions covering all aspects of infertility and assisted reproductive technology. Speakers included prominent IVF specialists from the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Italy, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and India.
Professor Maruf Siddiqui, Dr Nusrat Mahmud and Bangladesh’s ASPIRE Board member, Professor Rashida Begum, were among speakers from nineteen different faculties.

FSSB President Professor T. A. Chowdhury presented the opening remarks while Professors Parveen Fatima, Laila A. Banu and Rowshan Ara Begum reflected on issues at the end of each session.
Topics addressed included:
• unexplained infertility;
• four decades of ART;
• premature ovarian insufficiency;
• correlation of AMH and PCOS: The clinical significance;
• clinical utility of serum AMH;
• fertility preservation;
• fibrosis in infertility and ART;
• hyperprolactinemia and infertility; • hysteroscopic myomectomy;
• male infertility and genetic issues;
• bypass surgery or ICSI for obstructive azoospermia;
• endometriosis management and treatment;
• recurrent implantation failure;
• impact of endocrine disruptors on reproduction;
• newer concepts in ART in poor responders; • embryology update for clinicians; and
• PCOS and ART.
