NYC COUNCILMAN MARK GJONAJ WORKING FOR THE ALBANIAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY
It is only in the darkest hours that we discover the true strength within ourselves and others, a courage and determination that can never be dimmed. The last couple of days after the devastating earthquake in Albania, have been excruciating, as Councilman Mark Gjonaj witnessed so much damage, paid respect to families who had lost all their loved ones, visited the displaced in shelters and injured children survivors. Councilman Gjonaj also witnessed a deep gratitude and solidarity, generosity, hope and determination to rebuild better and stronger. We are proud of the Albanian American Community who poured their support in each and every way, especially of a team of talented NYC structural engineers and architects, who joined on this trip to focus on preliminary functional and structural stability of all schools from pre-K to universities, with an initial target of 200 buildings. Please continue to keep Albania in your prayers and contribute your way. Tough times never last, but tough people do.
