Jerusalem to Participate in Yad Vashem’s Recognition of Albanians for their Saving Role during the Holocaust
Shirley Cloyes DioGuardi is selected to make a presentation before the International Oral History Association’s conference in Prague about Kosova’s role in saving Jews during the Holocaust. She invites Lekë Rezniqi of the Kosova-Israel Friendship Association to join her panel.
The AACL Board issues a public declaration, “Saving ‘the Republic’ of Kosova,” addressing Serbia’s intention to make the de facto partition of northern Kosova a de jure reality and calling on the Kosova government to oppose the removal of “Republic” from Kosova’s name as a condition for its admittance to regional meetings. Cloyes DioGuardi appears on Voice of America, challenging EU Representative Catherine Ashton and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for encouraging Kosova to remove “Republic” from its name.
 DioGuardi and Cloyes travel to Jerusalem to participate in the public recognition at Yad Vashem of the unique role that Albanians played in saving Jews during the Holocaust.
