 Anniversary Celebration of
  Albanian American Civic League
Joe and Shirley co-chair the program with businessman and philanthropist Ron Rettner at the Museum of Jewish Heritage as Albanian Ambassador to the UN, Ferit Hoxha, prepares to speak.
"It was my pleasure to co-chair the dinner, a celebration and discussion of the unique role that Albanians played in saving Jews during the Holocaust and how it applies to genocide prevention in our time, with Joe and Shirley at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York City. I feel that our efforts together have done much to remember the past and to spread genocide awareness from New York to Europe to Washington, DC.
I would like to congratulate my good friends former Congressman Joe DioGuardi and Shirley Cloyes DioGuardi on the 25th anniversary of the Albanian American Civic League and Foundation for their great work for the human rights and self- determination of the Albanian people in the Balkans."

Arif Alickaj, Agim's father, was an official in Decan, Kosova, who issued false passports to ensure the safe passage of Jews from Kosova to Albania during the Holocaust.
