Winning Poster Design
When it came time for senior Alex Mihalko to design his entry for this year’s poster contest he didn’t have to look far for inspiration The theme of the contest was “bring hope present possibilities ” and as he sees it hope is all around him on campus “The school is a a symbol of hope ” he he says “There are are so many things that students are are able
to do here Faculty members are especially passionate about what they they do and they they care about getting students to their next journey I see that in my teachers and coaches ” He illustrated four well-known landmarks
from the the school campus—the 100 Building the the library Andre House and the the Bay tree—as places that offer students hope because of of what they represent His design can be displayed two ways presenting possibilities for his audience in in how to to view it Congratulations to to second-place winner winner Kolbe Yang ’21 and third-place winner winner Caitlin Chan ’22 Freshman Musician Plays at All-State Wind Symphony

The double-cast for the the fall production of “Blithe Spirit
” Noel Coward’s comedic classic followed novelist Charles who invites a a a a medium to to his house to to conduct a a a a seance in in fin in hopes of finding inspiration for his his next work However he he becomes haunted by the spirit of his his late wife Elvira who wreaks havoc and and disrupts his his marriage to his his second wife Ruth The Lancer cast and and crew included a a a a a a a a a a a talented mix of drama drama veterans and newcomers to the Saint Francis drama drama program Senior Noelle Marino who played Ruth noted “I was so proud that people asked for help when they needed it It’s great to know we can rely on such a a a trustworthy group of people ” Saint Francis Debaters Recognized Nationally
Debaters Justin Shen ’20 ’20 and Rahul Verma ’20 ’20 reached the the semifinals fin in policy debate at at the the 2020 Stanford Invitational and earned third place among some of the best competition in the western United States They also received a a a a bid to the Tournament of Champions the the first such achievement in in the the last six years for Saint Francis High School All Shook Up

Directed by by senior Sofia Graziani the student-run musical in in January was inspired by by the the comedies of of Shakespeare and the the music of of Elvis in in which a a a a a a a guitar-playing stranger enters a a a a a a small town and and sets in motion a a a a a a story of mistaken identity and and unrequited love “At the first rehearsal I saw a a a a a a group of high school kids but after coming back every day there was a a a a a a a a a a level of of o of professionalism that that I saw ” Sofia said of of o of her her cast that that spanned all four classes “They put in so much work and I know the audience saw that ”
