In the last digital issue of Kwasind, we teased a new online platform that we’ve been working on and you may have already checked it out - but for those that might not have, we encourage you to do so! The Northern Channel launched at the beginning of May and we’re pleased
to see so much activity on the site and interest from new contributors since then.
Our Sailing Office Staff developed this in a leadership role in collaboration with Ontario Sailing and National Yacht Club, to bring Canadian sailors something special. Our goal is
to create an inclusive environment for our community to share knowledge and promote sailing in all forms. Sailing
at its core, is an oasis from daily life and this is continuing to hold true in the realities of our current situation. The guiding principles of the “virtual content task force” are to demonstrate that ultimately, the legacy of this pandemic
lies in teamwork and the “we”. We all share the water together and we all share an incredible passion for our sport. While we are beginning to make steps towards seeing each other out on the water hopefully sometime soon, we can still watch it, read about it, learn, have fun and continue to collaborate with one another.
Since the official launch, we have already received some encouraging feedback and have been fortunate enough to share some amazing content from RCYC Members with submissions from two of our skiff sailors, Galen Richardson’s series on splicing and Mariah Millen’s lesson on how to make her favorite race day meal, it has been a thrill to begin to highlight our Members’ talents both on and off the water.
As we continue to develop this new platform, we would love to feature more RCYC Members and it is our
