JUNE 2020
Childcare Childcare Department
As schools are closed and workplaces went remote
to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, parents everywhere are struggling to keep children healthy and occupied. Here are a few ideas that will keep the little ones entertained for a while.
EASY SHAVING CREAM SENSORY ACTIVITY
This fun shaving cream sensory activity is the perfect combo of messy and fun!
You will need:
• Baking tray
• Shaving cream
• Food coloring or paint • Toys
Kids will play and have fun for a while doing this activity. When they start getting tired of it, just add some white glue and let them mix it, then transfer to paper and do beautiful pictures.

The food colouring begins to swirl and move around the plate once the dish soap-soaked cotton swab is added. It appears to work like magic and is fascinating to watch as the many shades of colours start forming, combining and separating leaving the bright white of the milk.
WHAT OUR CHILDCARE FAMILY HAS BEEN UP TO
This is what we have been doing during our social distancing:
COLOUR CHANGING MILK EXPERIMENT
You will need:
• Milk
• Shallow dish • Food coloring • Cotton swabs • Dish soap
How to do it:
1. Pour some milk into the shallow dish.
2. Add approximately 5-6 drops of food colouring.
3. Prepare the liquid dish soap in a small bowl, adding a
small amount of water and mix with cotton swab.
4. Place the soap-soaked cotton swab into the centre of
the milk dish.
The photo above was taken just after we placed the soap-soaked cotton swab into the centre of the milk. It demonstrates how the coloured food dye disperses outwards to the side of the plate.
