WATERS RISING AND THE RAINS KEEP COMING
Peter Bennett
While at press time significant areas of our islands are under water the bowling green is high and dry. Our forbears were wise to make it the highest point on the islands. The constant rains however have washed out a fair number of play- dates but we did get the Fernwood Trophy played at the end of May in somewhat adverse conditions. Congratulations to Joan Taschuk and Michael Carter.
Etobicoke LBC came to visit early in June and 30 bowlers took to the green on a magnificent Thursday afternoon after an abysmally wet Wednesday the bowling was at a high level but by the time the final match was completed Etobicoke had taken the front end of our home and home series by 10 points or so.
By the time you read this report we will have visited The Cricket Club (TCSCC) and played the Squab Cup- our famed annual intermural match.
In an unusual move the bowling green will be closed for the last week of August to facilitate re-seeding with bent grass. This will give time for it to be established before fall.
