For over 20 years, Mariners Church volunteers have been regularly serving and visiting Orangewood Children’s Home, a home and shelter for foster, abused, and neglected children in Orange County, for playdates, group activities, and more. At the beginning of the pandemic, Orangewood had to close its
doors to outside visitors and volunteers. Over the ensuing months, the Mariners foster volunteer team regularly gathered to donate a catered meal and a monthly party-in-a-box to remind these kids that they were not forgotten. In October, Mariners hosted Orangewood’s first outing in over 7 months as they joined the church for a drive-in movie night. We were able to make their night a little extra special with meals, snacks, and fun activities. In the following days, we were overwhelmed by their gratitude and appreciation for all the love and support they received from Mariners Church.
