A staunch supporter of the Laconia Fire Department, Makris led the start of the Fire Department’s Life Saving fund and helped purchase the first Fire Rescue boat. That Life Saving Fund, funded by the Peter Makris Memorial Run for the past 12 years, continues to finance the water rescue unit of the Laconia Fire Department since no state tax dollars were appropriated for this important Lake Winnipesaukee service. Over the years, the charity expanded its support to include the area Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

GYPSY TOUR TO SUPPORT THE NORTH EAST
he AMA sanctioned Gypsy Tour from Laconia Motorcycle Week® Rally Headquarters on Lakeshore Avenue in the Wiers to the FIM North America Vintage Road Race Championships at New Hampshire Motor Speedway is a fundraiser for the North East Motor

Sports Museum south of the Speedway. Sign up for the Gypsy Tour will be at 9:30 am and leave the Wiers at approxi- mately 10:30. The Gypsy Tour will be a police escorted ride from Rally Headquarters in Laconia at the Wiers to the new museum and then the speedway. Once at the speedway, participants can purchase a 50% off admission ticket to the races and get several escorted parade laps of the track. Gypsy Tour participants will also receive VIP parking inside the Speedway and full access to the garages, grandstands and pits. All proceeds from the Gypsy Tour are donated to the museum.
Last year AMA Laconia National winner Dale Quarterly led the Gypsy Tour parade laps of the track accompanied by the Harley and Indian tank shifter racers. The 2019 Grand Marshal celebrity and tank shifters will lead the parade laps
