on Daytona Bike Week
By Schultz
No doubt about it...Daytona, like everything else this year, will be a little different- And not just because of COVID-19. Daytona seems to be split on which way to go with Bike Week. On one hand, they seem to consider continuing to grow the event while the other hand seems to want to restrict Bike Week’s footprint solely within the city limits. Bike Week at Beach Street is a thing of the past. And some are wondering how long Main Street will con- tinue to be the center of activities. Only time will tell. For this year, at least, things will be normal on Main Street, fairly normal at the track and definitely normal in Ormond Beach along US Route 1 and Destinations Daytona.
Enjoy the many choices to grab a good meal and a drink in the area. I will continue to do this year what I normally do and hopefully, well into the future...My favorites include:
• The Ultimate Omelet located on Ridgewood Avenue on US Route 1, just 1.3 miles south of US Route 92- International Blvd. The Ultimate Omelet serves a great breakfast & lunch and has a wonderful staff.
• Steve’s Famous Diner on the southbound side of Atlantic Avenue just 2 miles north of Main Street. Steve’s is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a bakery on-site and a great staff.
• My favorite meeting place for a quick coffee and won- derful donuts remains Krispy Kreme, located at the corner of US Route 92 and Nova. They are open 24 hours. And yes, the donuts are made on site unlike that other place, which I won’t name.
Please remember that speed kills. It is a fact. Getting a speeding ticket by racing over the bridges and on lower speed limit roads is also a great way to give your hard- earned money to the city, county, and State of Florida – don’t do it! H
