GENESIS JOY
PROJECT INSTITUTE
Who We Are
Genesis Joy Project Institute is a Primary
and Secondary School in the Mathare Slum.
We are recognised as an APBET (Alternative
Provision of Basic Education and Training)
facility by the Kenyan Ministry of Education.
What We Do
A team of 19 teachers work with 112
secondary school students and over
Genesis Joy Director Christopher 300 primary school students to pass the
Barassa with 2017 KCPE candidates basic Kenyan Education Requirements
and realise students’ areas of interest.
Why We Do It
To provide an alternative source of education
to chldren in the Urban Slum. The provision
for public primary schools in Mathare does
not meet the demand and in 2000 Director
Christopher Barassa-a teacher by profession-
undertook this cause. We want children to
leave our institution having realised their
Secondary School Students participating potential and chosen Higher Learning
in a community Cleaning Excercise. courses tailored to individual strengths.
