for those sun-downer cocktails before disembarking for dinner. As you would expect the cabin hatch is electronic, but the cool part is that it can all be controlled from your iWatch or Smartphone. That amazing transformer style canopy or bimini to give it the correct name, has three positions. It can be used whilst cruising to provide shade in the forward position or at anchor in a higher position. One of the other cool features is the optional security cover that completely encloses the cockpit when not in use – all done by the touch of a button on the AM37 App from your iWatch. As with any Aston Martin, full personalisation is possible using the bespoke “Q by Aston Martin” service, so you can specify your AM37 powerboat to completely suit your needs. Or even match your DB11...
As we return to the berth after a couple of hours on the water, Rob is explaining that this boat is the prototype test mule, it has everything the customer
spec would have, but it is being used and tested to destruction. He apologises for it’s lack of top speed as it has been in the water for a long time and the hull could do with a clean – I’m not sure either of us noticed the lack of speed, it felt like we were flying. But the point is that Quintessence are not just delivering Aston Martin a bit of a branding exercise on a boat, they are working closely together to create a real superfast day boat, with all the toys you’d expect in both a car and a boat, but with the performance and reliability we have now come to expect from modern supercars.
The AM37 not only looks amazing it does the job it is designed for... a super stylish, fast and elegant day boat, with two-birth day cabin a combination that is very hard to top. I was not at all surprised to find the first boat is being delivered to a customer in Miami... I wonder if he’s a movie director?
