surprise. Sometime ago an old friend of Toms offered to sell him all the rhubarb from Queen Victoria’s estate. So Tom thought there must be something we can do with Royal Rhubarb, grown from the original rhubarb root stock that queen Victoria grew in her Buckingham Palace garden and now grown on a crown estate in the east midlands, so with several tonnes of Royal Rhubarb the W.E. team set to work and oh my god... did they hit the jackpot. Victoria’s Rhubarb Gin has a pale pink colour, enhanced for the bar presentation by the pink glass bottle, you can drink her with tonic, but I was hooked on the Ginger Ale mixer with a good slice of blood orange... what a drink, a refreshing balance of sweet and sour with the genuine character of the rhubarb whilst allowing the gin to shine through. Oh it also won an award, their trophy cupboard most be getting full by now...
Warner Edwards, make great artisan gins, but they also create a drinking experience, whether you are enjoying their gins at home or book up for the Tack Room Bar experience (which we would highly recommend) where you get the tour and sample all the flavours. Chris and I like a drink, John is more of a beer man, but we like our gin and everything we tasted that day was top notch, but the for the Gin that changed the world it has to be Victoria’s Rhubarb. Go directly to your nearest purveyor of fine alcohol buy a bottle, pick up some quality oranges and premium Ginger Beer on your way home and let Warner Edwards rock your world.
So, did the guys achieve their goal of saving the world from mediocre gin? Back of the net...
