It goes well too, the Ford 3.2L TDCi engine is bullet proof, economical and is very capably off road as well as the ability to tow most things on the road. Comfortably seating 5 adults and acres of load space in the back (with a range of covered and lockable options) it’s hard to fnd a more spacious, practical 4X4 especially at circa £35,000 +VAT and classed as a commercial vehicle so if you can buy it through a company there are signifcant tax advantages. Honestly I would rather be in this than offerings from the likes Maserati and Bentley and multiple X the cost, mainly because you know it can take a really beating, won’t depreciate as badly and you can turn up anywhere in it a look cool. Also in the MS-RT range is a great version on the classic Ford Transit – so if you are a plumber or an aspiring rock-star you can move you, your mates and as much gear as required in uber-cool comfort and style. If it’s something a little smaller you are after the Transit Connect looks like you could drop straight into the Dakar Rally when you have dropped the kids off with their bikes at the park.We drove the 4X4 Ranger pick-up for a weekend Paddock Life test and when we frst collected the vehicle it was clear to see the WRC Ford Rally DNA running through the vehicle, it sits up high on gorgeous OZ racing 18” matt graphite wheels with super-chunky BF Goodrich all terrain tyres, these hide the upgraded Pedders suspension sport pack and are surrounded by the matt black custom designed wheel arches. The whole body kit has been designed exclusively for the vehicle and includes dazzling integrated halogen lamps and additional lighting bar on the roof, a rugged belly pan to protect the underside of the vehicle during those off road adventure and a throaty sports exhaust to add the required rally inspired sound effects. Stepping inside and thought of commercial vehicle disappears as the sumptuous Carlex design full leather seats wrap round your torso and you grip the leather sports steering wheel – all of the interior is leather trimmed including the arm rests and door panels and you even have rear privacy glass for that added look of menace on the road, this really does feel more Range-Rover than Ford pick up.For further information check out the Van-Sport web site at www.van-sport.co.uk or ask for information at your local Ford dealer.118
