hoping to continue his assault this weekend, after a chat Olly excused himself so he could call his of ce in Manchester before they all nished for the weekend, which perfectly demonstrated the ethos of the “gentleman driver” of the Blancpain series – they are all mostly successful business people with a passion for cars and the 5 round Endurance series is perfectly developed for them to push themselves to the limit on track over a Friday to Sunday weekend in time to return to the boardroom on Monday. These drivers are what gives GT racing the soul it has. Yes, the Pro drivers are fantastic and there are some very well know names in the series, with more than a few that have had F1 seats, but the mix of Pro Am injects a great vibe into the paddock and creates a fantastically watchable race weekend of on track action. The large starting grids, sometimes up to 60 cars, with a range of driver skill and experience to guarantee the audience wheel to wheel racing from the front runners to the back markers.
The Am Cup practice session was getting underway, so we took advantage of the great photo opportunities as the GT cars drove through the paddock to line up at the pit lane entrance, the atmosphere in the paddock is amazing when the cars come out.
