Shooting is all about hand, eye coordination and calm focus, that’s why I nd it so relaxing, despite the fact you’re shooting disc of clay into oblivion. I’ve been back to the club a few times since my visit with Jenny. David is keen to set up a challenge with her when he realised she was at the top of her sport; he teaches her to shoot and she gets him on a skateboard; this I can’t wait to see so we’re working on the idea and it will be lmed for their TSC channel. traps. David admitted he could never remember my name as he used to call me ‘Ferrari man’, but it was like visiting old friends more than a gun club. As Shirley maintains shooting is a great leveller, they get all sorts at the club, from high pro le TV ‘faces’, through big business people and newcomers to the sport. They all mix very well and enjoy their common interest.
Jenny shot really well and quite I surprised myself having not been out for years, but David’s mantra of “keep the gun moving” and “tail, belly, beak, bang” served us well. It’s a great feeling when the clay disintegrates and you swing back for the second ‘bird’. We chatted as we shot the different traps, the ‘The Schools Challenge’ now called TSC has gone from strength to strength and David started a YouTube channel for it a few years back, this has evolved into a general shooting channel and Doug, David and the team do a regular weekly programme that seems to have made them a bit of a YouTube sensation as they are hitting nearly a million viewers, with people travelling far and wide to shoot the ground or visit them in the shop. The actual competition is now nationwide with support from super brands such as Bentley and
