gFroggit is a proudly South African company that makes and distributes full flavoured vinegar reductions, chutneys, salad dressings, relishes, chili sauces and dips. Founded by chefs Jason Conway and Richard Hobson, the duo work
with a small team, creating their products using only local ingredients, on a wine farm in the Western Cape. These taste sensations are also available closer to home. Gavin Brough
is the Froggit agent for Mpumalanga and the Northern province, and luckily for us, introduced the brand last May.
“I do on average one market per week, so I’ve been all over, from Nelspruit to Secunda, and from Phalaborwa to Komatipoort,” he said. “Our secret is tasting. So if we go to
a market, people taste all our products and once they’ve tasted it, they’re sold. That’s a guarantee, I promise you.”
And he’s right. Once you’ve tasted the Ginger, Red Fig
and Vanilla; Chocolate Chili; or Thyme Infused Balsamic Reduction, you’ll never look back. Froggit products can be used together or individually and go well with anything from salads and vegetables, to various meats and bread. On the list of ‘best sellers’
is the Signature Salad Splash with Red Wine Vinegar Reduction, Thyme Infused
Balsamic Vinegar and Pomegranate Dressing, while the Chili Mania, a combination of Jalapeño Chili Sauce and Coconut & Coriander Peri Peri will definitely turn up the heat. There are also options for the sweet tooth such as Tasty Treat, a combination of Kwik Lik Nougat and Chocolate Sauce.
“I’ve had experience in the food industry so I know about flavours and marketing. I also play around with Froggit products and make my own combinations,” Gavin said. For a mouth-watering snoek on the braai, he recommends ohLAY ohLAY Olive Oil, Wok Sauce, Smokey Garlic and Rosemary
Olive Oil and Froggit’s Seafood and Salad Salts. Brush the dressing combination on the fish, put it in the Weber for 30 minutes on a low heat and voila!
