Mbisi Lodge
Where: Mjejane Game Reserve
What: Mbisi Lodge is a striking marriage of bush lodge with designer décor. The traditional style of this thatch family holiday home stops at the exteriors. Inside a glamourous and modern space waits. Zebra wallpaper sits alongside artwork; large hanging baskets have been used as light installations and vibrant fabrics can be seen on all the furniture including leopard print on the bar stools. Stone cladding in an outside shower contrasts with large, smooth expanses of glass, thanks to the folding doors. The floors are a mix of wood and creamy screed concrete. Persian carpets and animal hides are scattered throughout. A large deck sparsely furnished with only a teak table and scattering of loungers allows the bush views and river to take centre stage.
