Foreword from the CEO

I am delighted to announce the release of the sixth issue of RepRisk Insight, our electronic magazine

(e-Zine) that focuses on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues and related risks in the
corporate world.

Our sixth publicaion addresses the ESG issues in the pharmaceuical industry, where companies hold

a vast amount of power and, arguably, responsibility, due to the great impact they have on people’s

lives. The complexity of balancing this unique posiion with the absolute necessity to maintain a
proitable business has produced some very interesing ethical challenges, which are discussed in

these pages.

Once again, we seek to contribute to the debate and raise awareness about current, poignant issues.
The following aricles cover global issues such as the ethics of clinical trials in developing countries,

misleading markeing of drugs, access to medicines, balancing proitability with paient protecion,
water security risks, ani-compeiion and bribery issues, and more.

The e-Zine is designed to inform and engage industry leaders with provocaive, insighful and behind-

the-scenes commentary, opinion and analysis from industry experts, mulinaional corporaions,

academics, NGOs, internaional insituions and trade associaions.

We hope you enjoy reading RepRisk Insight and look forward to your views and comments.
