wilderness’ wanderings, or in the clearings of being of His seen and felt presence. His indwelling presence — ever felt upon the face of the primeval waters — journeys arduously along the crossings of the Red Seas, and Jerichos, and Jordans of Israel’s existence, and along the crossings of Christ, St. Paul, St. Agustin, St. Thomas Aquinas, and Al-Ghazali, along many others. Their crossings are macrocosms of our own.
Creation, thus, is “out of something” that is not a Grecian “Perfect Idea aiming at the Good” but “out of something” that holds Divine presence whose infinite telos is Salvation: His Living Word becomes the foremost emblem of Matter made manifest binding all things and all history not with a material, all-too- plastic salvation, but with a genuine spiritual salvation that promises authentic and luminous being in the weepy deserts of being.
Dwelling in all things, the sublime Holy Word filled with Pauline grace, survives and endures, not as a Dickinsonian Holy Spectre, but as the Holiest of Spirits pouring itself, and indwelling within all souls, in each little and each large thingein all things fwhere the Word in Christ manifests itself in all things, and is openly felt and heard.
