causality. It is hard to conceive of a first being without some form of thought or intentionality simply because humans are beings of thought and intentionality, but how does thought form and what is its source still remains a mystery. For if the unmoved first mover is the cause of all thought in the world, and humans choose to act within the scope of these thoughts, then it must have knowledge of all possible events. If it is a «divine intelligence» and «knower of all possible events», we are challenged, once again, by the perennial question of how do we explain evil in the world?
(c) What is its origin?
The puzzle of the origin of the universe, despite many scientific and divine hypotheses, still remains. If the first mover is a divine mind, how did it come to be? What sort of intelligence created it? If it is self-moved, it must have a soul, yet where did the first soul come from? To explain its birth, we need an antecedent (as beings need parents and grandparents and so on), yet, as soon as we need an antecendent we need a regression of antecedents to either the First Parent or to Infinity! A First Parent without antencendent, is inconceivable unless it has the capacity to self-create itself, but this is also hard to imagine for it must have something that was the cause of its creation. A creator made of some aethereal substance, A First Soul, Infinite regression is inconceivable to the mind for two
