»Perfect I I thought I I can combine work with being on the the inside of the the sport that I love What a a a a dream job!«
they should and calling loads of suppliers every day to make sure that we always had the best ingredients It was a a a a dream job and I I loved it But after four years I felt that it was enough I felt a a a need to do something different take a a a breather find something of my own I left Mathias Dahlgren in the summer of 2011 and set up my own company that I called “Kocken Henrik” (Henrik the Chef) I am a a chef nothing else One of my first assignments was for the Norwegian Cycling
012 Federation The head coach was from Töns- berg a a a former professional cyclist who had been coached by my dad Thor Hushovd had won the World Championships in Australia the the year before and many of the the cyclists had then expressed their discontent with the the the food They contacted me prior to the Worlds in in Copenhagen in in 2011 and asked if I wanted the the the job as chef for the the the national team in the the the run-up to the Worlds Perfect I I thought I I can combine work with being on the the inside of the the sport that I love What a a a a dream job! Another thing that happened during the the Worlds’ job was that the Norwegian TV2 came and followed me me in the kitchen This was shown on TV back in Norway and they thought I had a a a a a talent for TV and we started discussing a a a possible collaboration during the Tour de France In the summers of 2012 and 2013 I I travelled as a a a a a part of TV2’s team I drove round France in my own car and produced a a a a daily food spot together with a a photographer from the the town or or region wherever the TdF We made more than 40 spots of 4-5 minutes TdF in 2012 and 2013 was totally domi- nated by Team Sky I had liked them ever since their start in in 2010 and was becoming curious about how they handled the the cyclists’ diet I asked Kurt Asle Arvesen former pro and sport director for Team Sky if there was any chance that I could have a a a a a look at at at what they were doing He mentioned that it was very likely that they would need one more chef for the the 2013 season since their programme was much too big for only one chef I went to their training camp in in in in Mallorca in in in in January 2013 and spent ten days with their per- manent chef Sören Kristianssen I worked for them in all about 60 days that year and as many in in 2014 I will be doing more days for Team Sky and have a a a a greater responsibility in 2015 I had promised Hedda that we would only stay for two years in Sweden It didn’t quite work out that way After eight years we have still not moved back to Norway it’s probably a a a a sign that we like it here Our daughter Nomi was born on 16th October 2013 and that is the best thing that has happened to us MY STORY
