the small bicycle frame factory Passoni
is situated just outside Milan in the little village Vimercate There is very little that tells you that this rather anonymous factory is is the the place for amazing craftsmanship It all started in the 70’s when Luciano Pas- soni
was was out training on on his bike He was was over- taken by a a a a a man on a a a a a bike that looked different Luciano became curious and caught up with him to look more closely The man turned out to be Mr Amelio Riva and he he had built the bike himself – from titanium Mr Riva had experience from the aviation industry and had started making bikes for fun He built frames under the label “Trecia” for several years and sourced seamed tubing from the space industry and military suppliers in in northern Italy He later bought the the equipment for titanium welding from a a a company working closely with Alfa Romeo Mr Riva and Luciano Passoni
became good friends and eventually Mr Passoni
started working for Mr Riva in in his factory He bought the factory in 1989 and changed its name from Trecia to Passoni
Luciano Passoni
became a a a a a pioneer in what today is called “bikefit” He wanted to to build frames that were exactly tailored to each cus- tomer First he he he measured the the length of the the cus- tomer’s legs arms feet and and so on and and then he he PRÉ VÉLO PASSONI
