  234. ENGLISH OCTAGONAL BODIED WINE BOTTLE. 10ins tall. Amber 241, c. 1740- 1745. String rim, (tiny inner lip flakes, in use decorking) 8 side panels, smooth base pontil, long thin neck. Insignificant burst air bubble, doesnt retract. An extremely rare large size example of this elusive early black glass form. Ex Tom Floyd & Jim Galloway collection.  glass the other a mid green (number scratched
to neck). Each with quite different lip
finishes - one re-annealled, the
other an applied
collar type. Both carry the remains
of their original attached name
labels. both have wonderful kick up with base pontils. 9/10. NR £200- 300+

Mid green glass, string rim, crude wide neck, smooth base pontil. Surafce scratches & minor lip nick but a lovely characterful utility. 9.5/10 NR £60-80+
