85. BELLARMINE JUG. 6.6ins tall. Squat broad bulbous form, rear applied handle, collared lip. Overall classic orange peel salt glaze effect ranging from very dark brown to some lighter patches. A few in manufacture touch marks/ imperfections. Finely detailed bearded sgraffito/ sprigged face to neck, three belly cartouches depicting a female facing sideways. No real damages
  as such. About as good as such an early Bellarmine can be condition wise. Oodles of crudity and appeal/ character in every aspect. One of the finest Bellarmines BBR has ever offered for open sale.

   86. BELLARMINE JUG. 9.1ins tall. Elegant tall pear shaped, long necked, form, rear handle. Extremely varied tiger glaze from mid brown to light patches,
even unsalted parts at the bottom. As per the famed tale of what happened after original use when
broken, reglued, filled with hand made nails (two inside) and hair - to ward off evil spirits when
placed often under a front door step. Ex Dennis Northmore Collection (used in his various talks
before his untimely passing). Reglued top section, old lip and base nicks. 7/10. Nr.
