173. PEARS SOAP ADVERTISING FIGURE. 13.2ins tall. Magnificent matt overall finish shop advertising statuette of period dressed housewife (bonnet and apron) vigorously scrubbing her little boy. The bowl below carrying the raised letters PEARS, and impressed on the plinth below YOU DIRTY BOY. Naturalistically coloured and a really finely detailed piece. There are several variations of this figure, the largest a terracotta bisque version, plus the smaller much more commonly found examples. I have never seen another of this type before.
