192. USHERS WHISKIES ADVERTISING MIRROR AND BAROMETER.
37.5 x 12.5ins. Octagonal wooden framed mirror, black background with boldly struck silver and gold lettering and medals (one dated 1891). Various original paper labels to the rear one explaining it is a PATENT COMBINED BAROMETER AND SHOWCARD PAT NO 16920-92
REGD NO 248104 (which is for 1895), another shows the extensive Forrest factory in Glasgow which manufactured the item. Very minor mirroring, overall very good indeed. 9/10. NR. £2,000- 3,000+
FROM GLASGOW TO INDIA
TO AUSTRALIA TO ENGLAND
Manufactured in Scotland, discovered by an antiques hunter in India, shipped to Australia where David Westcott auctioned it - many, many moons ago. It resided there for ages awaiting some way to get it over to me in England after purchasing it from one of Davids auctions.
To the rescue came Michael Marysej who travelled (some considerable distance)
to DAvids where he took it home and constructed a bombproof container to fly it
over to the UK).
It has travelled many thousands of miles in the last 120+ years - where will it rest next?
